Is this just for electricians?
The guide is written by a sparky, for sparkies - the resume examples, ticket pathways and trade language are electrical-specific, so that's who gets the most out of it. A lot of the bigger-picture stuff (how FIFO hiring works, labour hire, point of hire, life on site, the money) applies to any tradie, but if you're not in the electrical trade, just know the trade-specific sections are aimed at sparkies.
Do I need mining experience to get in?
No. The most common myth out there. You need industrial experience, not mining experience - and there's a difference. Plenty of blokes break in from commercial, industrial or construction backgrounds with the right tickets and the right resume. The guide walks you through exactly how to position what you've already got.
I don't live in WA - can I still work FIFO?
Yes. Tradies fly out of QLD, NSW and VIC to WA sites every single day. What matters is understanding "point of hire" so you're not caught paying for your own flights - and that's covered in the guide so you know exactly what to look for before you sign.
Is the information current, or is it out of date?
